Contemporary dance is literally a dance of today, rooted in the styles and currents of our time. We want to express through our movement a personal emotion, a feeling, which may be linked to the music, the choreography, the present moment, a thought... That's why improvisation is at the heart of contemporary dance.
Contemporary dance arrived in Europe in the 1970s. Shortly after the emergence of modern dance, which revolutionised the codes of classical dance. Through regular learning, the contemporary style enables dancers to progress in their practice and acquire a higher level of technical knowledge over the course of their training sessions.
